The Manchester Health AcademyCommunity Officer

Salary: Grade 2 £13,189 – £14,733 per annum
Full and part-time positions available – mainly flexible afternoon and evening shift work, including weekend daytime shifts

The Manchester Health Academy is an 11-18 mainstream secondary school which opened in September 2009 and is sponsored by the Central Manchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with Manchester City Council and The Manchester College as co-sponsors.  Part of our vision is to be the hub of the community and with this in mind we have sports facilities with dual use and which are therefore open to the community outside of school hours.  These facilities consist of a fitness suite refurbished with the latest state of the art equipment, 2 sports halls, 2 small classrooms and outside football pitches and tennis courts.

Following a recent restructure, we now have exciting opportunities available for the right candidates to join us in either a full or part-time capacity.  In the role of Community Officer you will manage the safe and effective operation of the community facility, covering both reception duties and gym supervision duties.  Suitable candidates must therefore hold a current gym qualification in order to deliver and supervise gym inductions, have knowledge of various sports equipment to enable you to set up different activities for users and have confidence in handling cash payments for gym members and group payments.   Previous experience operating in a similar role is therefore desirable.  Ideal candidates will also possess qualifications to coach/instruct in some kind of sporting discipline, although this is not an essential requirement for the role.

An application form, job description & person specification are available for download from our website

Under safer recruitment procedures CVs will not be accepted.  A completed application form and supporting statement are required.  Successful candidates are also required to undergo an enhanced criminal records check.
