Full description of Vacancy There
are two vacancies within the technical support team for the creative
industries.  The team works to support
the production and planning of a range of theatre, dance, fashion and music
events across the year as well as daily operational support for the
curriculum delivery.

  1. Issue,
    discharge and stock control of props, mics and other equipment
  2. Working with
    sound and sound systems including rigging and patching mics, basic AV use.
  3. Working with
    lights including light plans, preparing kit, focusing and follow spotting,
  4. Supporting work
    in stage management and production planning including some front of house
  5. Health and
    safety, fire evacuation and risk assessment

will receive training in a wide range of duties which will support you and
help to progress your career in technical theatre including maintenance,
diagnostics, repair. Working as a team member is key aspect of the role. The
role will include contact and work with students and tutors in both FE and HE
as well as other College teams such as marketing and HR.
will undertake a formal college training course and ensure all course work is
completed on time and to a high standard to achieve the relevant
apprenticeship framework.
training will be in ALL of the below qualifications;

Certificate in Technical Theatre (Sound, Light & Stage) Level 2

Certificate in Principles of the Creative and Cultural Sector Level 2

Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT Level 1
College has over 200 Higher Education students within the Arden School of
Theatre, 170 students on HE music technology and performance programmes as
well as 500 learners in 16-19 in theatre, music and dance. There is a
thriving performance ethos to these areas with productions through out the
year. The College technical teams work on events for other areas including
Fashion and Media and support marketing events.

Short description of Vacancy (this will be the first
thing that an applicant will see)
Two Apprentices required
to work within the creative performance, media and music technical support teams
in the college. The successful candidates will specialise in technical  sound and lighting as well as undertake a
wide range of duties with specialist curriculum delivery teams of the
college. This includes an extensive programme of live performances in our own
theatre and performance spaces as well as external venues.

Weekly Wage £172
Working Week 37 hours
Future prospects description You will be encouraged to apply for permanent vacancies that become available within the college during the period of your apprenticeship. If you have not secured employment with the college by the end of your apprenticeship, support will be provided to help you seek employment with an alternative employer. The training and experience you will receive at the college during your apprenticeship will help in this respect.

This apprenticeship vacancy is based in a college support
services  department and you will become
an employee of the college on a fixed term contract.

Reality Check
Working in performance is
varied and demanding especially in event/show planning and delivery. However
the role can also sometimes be routine. The apprentice should be aware that
they will be asked to undertake duties normally associated with a junior
member of staff and that they will be supporting a range of staff and
students as well as sometimes external clients in providing a high quality

key delivery sometimes in the evening and occasionally weekends.
You will be paid monthly on
the last working day and may have to work several weeks in hand before your
first pay.
