RIME – Helping over 50′s into work

PrinceThe Prince’s Initiative for Mature Enterprise (PRIME) is the only national organisation dedicated to providing everyone over 50, who is unemployed or under threat of redundancy, with the support to achieve financial, social and personal fulfilment through sustainable self-employment.

The Prince’s Initiative, a member of the Senior Enterprise programme, was established by HRH The Prince of Wales in response to letters he was receiving from people desperate to work but unable to find anyone to employ them – because of their age.

Since 1999 we have been helping those over 50s who are unemployed or facing redundancy and who are considering the option of starting their own business, to explore and test their business idea and go on to start their own business.

We provide information, training, mentoring and support to approx 5,000 over 50s each year and on average over 2,250 of those go on to start their own businesses each year.

The Prince’s Initiative is recognised as the leading authority on supporting enterprise by people over the age of 50 and is accredited as a SFEDI centre of excellence. (SFEDI is a government-recognised UK standards body for Business support and enterprise.)
